Brendan Rodgers: No value in Sterling loan move

Brendan Rodgers: No value in Sterling loan move

Brendan Rodgers has ruled out the possibility of a loan move for teenage sensation Raheem Sterling.

The 17-year-old was handed his Liverpool first team debut in Sunday's crucial clash with Premier League champions Manchester City and was impressive, giving Kolo Toure a torrid time, particularly in the first half.

It was initially part of Liverpool's plans to loan out the youngster so he can garner some experience this season, but his boss has said that Sterling will get plenty of game time at Anfield.

The manager said: "I've seen a lot of development in him in a short time because he takes on a lot of the concepts and he is very good with instructions.

"I am certain over the next few years that he will develop into a very good footballer."

It will be interesting to see if Rodgers sticks with Serling for Liverpool's next match.

The Reds welcome Arsenal to Merseyside on Sunday (September 2nd), with both teams chasing their first win of the season.

No more additions for Manchester United

No more additions for Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted that Manchester United will be making no more incoming transfers this summer.

The Premier League runners up have already purchased Nick Powel, Shinji Kagawa, Robin van Persie Alexander Buttner and Angelo Henriquez during the off season as they looked to wrestle their crown back from neighbour Manchester City.

Yet United looked lightweight in midfield when they lost to Everton on the opening day of the season and speculation remained that Sir Alex may seek to remedy this.

However, the Old Trafford boss said: "We definitely won't be buying anyone else".

He did say the departure of Dimitar Berbatov remains a possibility as Sir Alex accepts that in the late-stage of the Bulgarian's career he needs to be playing regular first team football.

As well as their midfield issues, United currently face a centre half injury crisis.

They will go into tomorrow's (August 25th) game against Fulham with Rio Ferdinand, Johnny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling all unavailable.
